BUYER BEWARE!

Peace of mind is a full security system installed and working in your home and or business.
Truly concerned Security Companies must insist in having the customer’s premises fully protected and monitored by a local reliable U.L. approved Central Monitoring Station.

Beware of  “Special offers”, long term contracts, suspiciously low prices or so called “free installations.”
In the long run those “specials” will cost you much more, not to mention the headaches involved in the event of service needed or cancellation.  There is no such thing as a “free lunch”.

Businesses are in business for profit, nobody works for free, would you? Do not expect anybody or a business to give you something for nothing. Sound familiar?  In a long-term contract you are paying well over the regular price and the real cost of what you are buying, including finance charges not mentioned, the quality, or lack thereof, of the equipment you are buying, if you are even actually buying it at all.

Often times customers are given the impression that they will own the equipment, then find out it’s quite the opposite in the small print. Read the small print!

PARTIAL protection is very dangerous, just think in the same way a burglar will think, how many doors and windows are protected? Is this place showing stickers and yard signs from those companies that advertise free or low cost installation? Investigate for yourself by calling the police department and ask them if it is wise to only protect a few of the entrance points of your home, or if they should all be protected.

We do not want to use scare tactics to sell you anything… we are talking facts – facts that those money oriented companies will never tell you.

Be careful when dealing with companies that use independent contractors or sub-contractors, even though the Bureau of Investigative Services licenses them and some of them are licensed Alarm Companies. The companies that sub-contract does the work in your home or office, then sell your account to a larger buy-out company. Once that it is done, you will never see them again.

When you need service you will be dealing with someone different each time you call, and MANY different people will know your security system set up. The fewer people who know about your system, the safer you are.

The level of security in your home or business is your responsibility. If you are planning to buy a Security System, think of all the possibilities of breaking into your property. Place yourself in the shoes of a burglar. What will be the easiest point of entrance

 – or Cont. of News Letter maybe the second option or third. Talk your fears over with your Security Advisor or salesperson and by all means always get 2 or more quotations and compare apple for apple. You really do GET what you pay for.

Look very carefully at the contracts and read the small print. Look for how long your commitment is for and the cancellation requirements, service charges, if there will be a trip charge. Most companies charge for travel time on top of the service charge itself, and remember, if your contract has been sold, your Alarm may be Monitored rather far away.

If your contract included free service, the cost of service has probably been hidden into your monthly monitoring bill.

Now you have something to think about regarding your personal, family or property protection. IT IS UP TO YOU to make the right choice.

Please call Alert Neighborhood Security for any or all your security needs.

Canceling a contract is a very difficult task. If you are unhappy with the way your Security Company or Monitoring Station is doing business or taking care of you, with a long-term contract you are in a difficult position.

The law protects the Company and you will be at its mercy for the length of the contract.  Also, be aware of the cancellation notice requirement. It may be 30, 60, 90 or even 180 days (6 Months).  What this means is that for example, your cancellation notice requirement is 90 days. You will need to notify the company of your intent to cancel 90 days prior to the end of your original term. If this notification is not received by that deadline, the contract automatically renews for next term.

But it’s not all is bad news.  The good news is the fact that technology and mass production allows individuals to buy a much better, easier to operate and very reliable system for much less than what we use to pay, say 10 years ago.

New features in todays systems makes life safer and more enjoyable.  We can now remote control our alarm, English readout key pads or talking ones, and even two-way voice communication have replaced LED’s. Wireless systems that are being used by the FBI and White House are now available to the regular public and we are installing those systems in large and small locations, with the same extraordinary results.
